Sudan and Ethiopia's Defense Ministers Agree to Establish a Joint Border Force

At the conclusion of military technical committee meetings in Khartoum, Ethiopia and Sudan have agreed to form a joint force to patrol the border between the two countries. Sudan's Defense Minister, Abdul-Rahim Mohammed Hussein, announced that the two countries will now start forming the joint units to patrol the border, adding that the regular meetings between the leadership in the two countries had created a great deal of mutual trust. He pointed out that their cooperation had now moved to the stage of joint formation and training of border forces. Ethiopia's Minister of Defense, Siraj Fergessa, arrived in Khartoum on Wednesday (February 26) to participate in joint military technical committee's work, and he and Minister Hussein, signed the minutes of the meetings. Other elements of the agreement included exchange of information and controlling outlawed elements and peacekeeping issues as well as the establishment of joint forces.
